The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Chinedum Peace Babalola and the members of staff of Chrisland University, have taken the first dose of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine against the deadly coronavirus.
The VC and the staff members were vaccinated on Tuesday by the university medical practitioners.
Prior to the vaccination, the staff members were enlightened on the effectiveness of the vaccine in immunizing the body against the virus.
The University medical practitioner, Dr. Ojuolape Kuti, explained that “the vaccine allows the body to build immunity by activating T and B lymphocytes and cells that recognize the COVID-19 and produce antibiotics to combat it.”
She added that “it is normal for a person to experience minor side effects while the body builds immunity after vaccination.”
The Vice-Chancellor urged the teaching and non-teaching staff of the institution to believe in the vaccine.
She also implored those who are yet to be vaccinated to “make themselves available for vaccination against the raging virus.”
Recall that CEOAFRICA reported that the African Union laureate endorsed the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine few days ago.
The Professor of Pharmaceutical chemistry and Pharmacokinetics had also stated that “It is necessary for every human body to react to vaccinations”, adding that the World Health Organization is still studying if there is a relationship between the vaccine and blood clot, as speculated by other countries that suspended the vaccine.
