SAD! Businesses, movements halted as students protest in Ibadan over death of 4 colleagues crushed by truck

Ibadan- Monday 29, March 2021: Four (4) students of Idito High School in Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo state and a bike man were crushed to death by a tipper truck.

The incident happened on a Monday morning when the students were on bike going to their school.

CEOAFRICA gathered from a source who was there at the scene that the tipper truck lost control when the bike man carrying the students left its lane and faced the oncoming truck at a sight of a goat crossing the road.

It was disclosed that the 5 victims died at the spot.

The source explained that “The four students were on the bike going to their school. A goat crossed the road. Sighting the animal, the bike man swerved to the other lane facing the oncoming trailer. The trailer, which was already on its speed, could not control itself, but to step on them.”

Reacting to the incident, the students of Idito High School came out en masse to express their grievances.

The source added that the students burned the truck and began protests, affecting the daily activities of the community.

“The road was blocked. Sellers could not open their shops and sell. Our business for today has been affected,” he lamented.     

However, securities agencies were said to be at the scene to ensure peace and order in the community.         

The police public relations officer in the state, Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirmed the event, saying the police would do everything to nip it in the bud and restore peace in the area.
