A magistrate court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo state has ordered that a thirty-year-old man, Monsuru Tiamiyu be remanded in Agodi Prison for rape.

Tiamiyu was sentenced for having unlawful sexual intercourse with Idowu Mukaila (18) without her consent.

The prosecutor, Inspector Adeyela E. said the accused had on September 6 at about 13:40pm at Ajeja Village, Moniya, Ibadan had unlawful carnal knowledge with the victim.

"That you Monsuru Tiamiyu 'm' on 6th September, 2014 at about 13:40pm at Ajeja Village, Moniya, Ibadan in the Ibadan Magisterial District did have unlawful carnal knowledge of one Idowu Mukaila 'f' 18 years without her consent and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 357 and punishable under Section 358 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol. 11 of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000," part of the charge sheet read.

The plea of the accused was not taken by the Chief Magistrate E.A Idowu who ordered that he should be remanded in Prison.

Chief Magistrate Idowu then adjourned till September 30, 2014.
