Hunters, Villagers in firefight with hoodlums in Osun

Hunter and villagers at Koka village in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State engaged in firefight with some hoodlums suspected to be herdsmen.

It was gathered that the suspected hoodlums invaded the village and attempted to abduct some villagers at about 11:30pm on Sunday, however, the village hunters succeeded in forcing out the hoodlums from the community.

A source disclosed that three of the villagers sustained bullet wounds, but rushed to Asubiaro State Hospital, Osogbo.

The State Command Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident.

Opalola stated that “Some herdsmen on Sunday attacked Koka Village in Obokun Local Government Area, and attempted to abduct some villagers.

“Villagers and hunters mobilised and engaged the attackers in a firefight and liberated themselves. Three villagers sustained bullet wounds. Those injured were responding to treatment at Asubiaro State Hospital, Osogbo.

“Police have deployed some of their men to join the locals on search operation to apprehend the fleeing suspects.”
