Ex Egyptian President, Hosni Mubarak
CEOAFRICA.com confirmed from Cairo that an Egyptian court has ordered that former President Hosni Mubarak be released on bail.
Mubarak, who ruled the country for three decades, was ousted in 2011 following general protest, and elections which brought Mohammed Morsi into power was conducted.
Although the 85-year old still faces charges of complicity in the killing of protesters during the Arab spring, he may be freed from prison this Thursday.
His lawyer Fareed El-Deeb confirmed that he may go home tomorrow.
Hosni Mubarak was sentenced to life in jail last year, but he appealed for a retrial and it was upheld. The retrial opened in May but Mr. Mubarak has served the maximum amount of pre-trial detention permitted in the case.
Analysts say Mr Mubarak's release - if it happens - would be seen by many as a sign the military is rolling back the changes that flowed from the 2011 uprising.
