Nigeria is at the risk of being sanctioned by the world football governing body, FIFA, following fresh attempts at hampering the process of bringing in duly elected officials to run the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

A Federal High Court in Jos Friday granted an injunction to stop the planned Congress fixed for Saturday in Warri by the Aminu Maigari Board of the NFF.

The Congress, which is in line with the last correspondence received from FIFA, was supposed to chart a road-map that would lead to the election of new officials for the Federation.

However, supposed board members from the Chris Giwa-led NFF, Yahaya Adama and Obinna Ogba, who sued for themselves and on behalf of the members of the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) elected on the 26th August 2014, were able to get the injunction to halt the Warri Congress.

Aside FIFA frowning at taking football matters to civil court as it is in this case, the world body had warned that any attempt at derailing the process of electing new officials to be supervised by the outgoing Magari board will be met with outright suspension till the next FIFA congress.

The fresh orders from the Jos court were to be served on the defendants; Alhaji Aminu Maigari, Musa Amadu, the Plateau state Football Association and the Minister of Sports, Dr Tammy Danagogo by electronic or print media.

As at the time of filing the report, some of the defendants claim they have not been properly served any court order thus suggesting that the Congress in Warri might still go ahead.

According to the court order seen by PREMIUM TIMES, Justice A. L. Allagoa ruled as follows:

• That leave is granted to the Plaintiffs/Applicants to issue and serve the 1st, 2nd and 4th defendants an originating summons outside the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court and to endorse same as such;

• That an order of interim injunctionis granted restraining the 1st and 2nd defendants and all other members of the defunct Executive Committee of the NFF jointly and severally by themselves or through their agents or servants from convening or and holding a general assembly or extra ordinary assembly of the NFF and or conducting or holding any election into the Executive Committee of the NFF pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice filed in this case;

• That an order of interim injunction is granted restraining the 1st and 2nd defendants and all other members of the defunct Executive Committee of the NFF jointly or severally from further parading themselves as the President and members of the Executive Committee of the NFF pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice
filed in this case;

• That an order of interim injunction is granted restraining the 3rd defendants and the Football Association of the 35 states of the Federation and of the FCT from participating in any general Assembly or extra General Assembly convened by the 1st and 2nd defendants and the defunct members of the Executive Committee of the NFF pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice filed in this case;

• That an order of interim injunction is granted restraining the fourth defendant from further giving recognition to the 1st and 2nd defendant and all other members of the defunct Executive Committee of the NFF as the legitimate President and Executive Committee of the NFF pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice filed in this case;

• That an order of mandatory injunction in the interim is granted compelling the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th defendants jointly and severally to give recognition to the General Assembly meeting of the NFF held on the 26th August 2014 and the election into the executive Committee of the NFF conducted at that meeting pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice filed in this case;

• That an order of interim injunction is granted restraining all the defendants by themselves, their servants or agents from interfering with the plaintiff performance of their duties, execution of their offices as Executive Committee of the NFF pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice filed in this case by also publishing same through electronic or print media;

• That the matter is adjourned to the 8th day of October 2014 for hearing of the motion on notice issued at Jos under the seal of the court and the hand of the presiding judge dated this 19th day of September 2014.
