Borno - The Nigeria Army said the leader of the Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, has been reportedly killed during an onslaught by troops against the terrorists group in Konduga, Borno State, according to the reports.

According to senior military and intelligence sources, the sect commander who has been mimicking Shekau in those videos was the one killed in Konduga on September 17, 2014 due to the striking resemblance in facial marks, beards and teeth.

The troops also claimed to recover the armoured vehicles and Hilux jeeps that had featured in previous videos of the sect commander during the onslaught.

An unspecified number of insurgents were said to have voluntarily surrendered their weapons after they were overpowered by the soldiers.
