Agoro V. INEC: Court of Appeal lists suit for hearing

A suit filed by the formerĀ  Presidential candidate of the National Action Council (NAC),Dr. Olapade Agoro, against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in which he isĀ  protesting the purported proscription of his political party by the electoral commission has been listed for hearing tomorrow (Wednesday, 24th September, 2014) by the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos.

The Suit No. CA/L/621/11 marked Agoro Vs. INEC has been pending before the Appellate Court since 2011 when it was originated while the Independent National Electoral

Commission has not filed any paper to oppose the Appeal, in apparent submission of itself to the appeal.

In his prayers, Dr. Agoro, who doubles as the National Chairman of National Action Council, is accusing INEC of engaging in acts that tantamount to illegality and unconstitutionally by announcing the proscription of NAC, his political party.

While pleading with the Appellate Court for an accelerated hearing, Agoro is also seeking prayers against INEC from holding further elections in the country, until the case before the Appellate Court is dispensed with.
