Osun Police Command apprehends notorious serial killers, robbers, cultists

Tuesday 29th June, 2021: The Osun State Police Command said on Tuesday that it has apprehended some notorious armed robbers, serials killers, and cultists terrorising the state and its environ.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Olawale T. Olokode disclosed this during a press briefing at the command headquarters, Osogbo, Osun State.

Olokode said the culprits had been linked to various armed robberies, cultism and killings within the state and its environs of which the suspects have confessed to their crimes.

According to him, some of the criminals even led the  police crack detectives to their Armoury in a banana plantation at Oke Baale area of the state, with the police recovering many exhibits, there

The exhibits included three (3) cut to size single barrel guns with cartridges and local fabricated barrel pistol gun.

CP Olokode gave the names of the suspected criminals as Tope Gbenga, popularly known as Jembe, Olaide Adelu aka Okiki, Arowolo Yusuf, and Opeyemi Obaniwa, who always raid and steal money from Point of Sale Operators, (POS), market women and members of the public.

They were apprehended by the Oja Oba Divisional headquarters of the police in the state capital with the collaboration of the local security outfits.

The CP also disclosed that One, Omoboriowo Azeezat, was also arrested early this month at OkeAbesu area, Osogbo, while attempting to kill one, Olugbode Joshua alias Ole.

The state police command also arrested one, Adejumo Moruf Olalekan, who absconded with Suzuki mini bus given to him for commercial purpose, which upon receipt of complaints by the owner led the police to extend its investigation tentacles to Ajah area of Lagos State where the suspect was arrested.

Similarly, the Commissioner added that another two suspects namely Rafiu Olaniyi and Lawal Wale Akinloye, were arrested for snatching a Toyota Camry Big Daddy car from its owner.

He said the police swung into action immediately the car owner reported the incident  and was able to arrest the two suspects and recovered the said vehicle at Ibadan, Oyo State early this month.

Olokode added that cases involving all the suspects have been charged to court and they were remanded for prosecution.

He then assured the members of the public of safety, adequate protection, and peaceful mind noting that Police is the friend of law abiding citizen.

“I want to assure each and every residents in Osun state that the command will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that the state is free from all kinds of criminal elements”.
