Friday, 2nd July 2021: To drive home its message that no unauthorized rally will be allowed on Saturday, the Lagos State command of the Nigeria Police on Friday embarked on ‘Show of Force’ around the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, had earlier at a press conference warned organisers of the Oodua Republic Mega Rally scheduled to hold on Saturday 3rd July, 2021, at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park, Ojota, Lagos, to steer clear of Lagos State as no such rally would be allowed.

He said it was to forestall any breakdown of law and order.

The command’s public relations officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement on Friday that the command and other security agencies, including the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps and Department of State Services, have put measures in place to prevent any act of lawlessness, oppression and intimidation in the state on the said date.

The command still reiterated its stance that anyone caught participating in or facilitating the so-called mega rally in Lagos State will be dealt with within the ambit of the law.
