Gov Ortom orders demolition of house his aide’s wife was rescued

Tuesday- 3rd August, 2021: Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, has ordered the demolition of the house used by the kidnappers of the abducted wife of the state Land and Survey commissioner, Ann Unenge.

The governor gave the order on Monday while speaking at the Police Headquarters, Makurdi, after the rescue of the commissioner’s wife.

Ortom’s directive aligns with the Benue State Law on prohibition of abduction, hostage-taking/kidnapping, cultism and similar activities.

Recall that the wife of the commissioner was rescued around 12 noon on Monday by police officers.

During the operation, three kidnappers were killed.

Governor Ortom commended the police officers for being professional in rescuing abducted victims without the nee d to pay any ransom.

He said the Benue government would keep supporting security agencies as they discharge their duties.

The governor also warned criminals still operating in the state and their collaborators that the law will catch up with them soon.
