DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT ESTABLISHES 11 CENTRES FOR PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED PERSONS

Delta State government has established eleven special needs learning centres for physically challenged children of school age.

The commissioner for basic and secondary education, Patrick Muoboghare, disclosed this in Asaba, the state capital, stating that the schools consist of eight primary and three secondary schools.

Mr. Patrick said that the centres for primary schools are located Asaba, Agbor, Issele-Uku, Warri, Ughelli, Ozoro, Kwale and Oleh while the secondary schools are at West End Mixed Secondary School, Asaba, and Unity School, Agbarho for the blind while Dom Domingos College, Warri for the deaf.

He gave the population of pupils at the primary schools as 758 children made up of 424 males and 334 females while that of secondary students stood at 61 made up of 33 males and 28 females, pointing out that more centres would be established to provide access to more children in due course.
