As Kogi state marks Eld- El- Kabir festival today, the state governor, Idris Wada has approved free bus services for commuters in the capital city, Lokoja to mark sallah celebration.
In a statement by the state Commissioner of Transport, Abdulrahman Wuya, which was made available to Nigerian Pilot Saturday yesterday in Lokoja, the free bus service will commence from 8am to 6pm today in the capital city.
According to Hon. Wuya, the governor’s gesture is a mark of avowed stand to assist the people of the state, when occasion demands adding that the free bus service for commuters on Sallah day is part of government’s commitment in that direction.
In a related development, governor, Idris  Wada has urged religious leaders in the country to emphasise the virtues of hard work, tolerance and honesty as vehicles for rapid socio-economic development.
In a Sallah message signed by Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to the governor, Jacob Edi, it said Nigerians should go beyond seeing the Ed-el-Kabir festival as just another public holiday and an annual ritual for wining and dinning, but rather use the period for spiritual renaissance and deep reflection on the tenets of holiness, love and peace, which he noted are the pillars of all religions.
