There appears to be bad omen for Nigeria ahead of the crucial two-legged Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan.

The Super Eagles need to win both matches on Saturday at the National Stadium in Abuja, and on Wednesday in Khartoum, to put Nigeria’s qualification for next year’s tournament back on track, having picked just a point from the last two games.

But with winger, Victor Moses and midfielder Babatunde Michael already doubts for Saturday’s match due to injuries, there are increasing fears the reigning African champions may not qualify to defend their title in Morocco next year.

Moses created Stoke City’s lone goal in their 3-1 loss to Sunderland yesterday but appeared to have hurt himself and was substituted immediately after the celebrations for the goal.

Although severity of the injury is yet unknown but it has cast doubt on his availability for the two matches against Sudan.

The on-loan Chelsea winger was handed a recall by Coach Stephen Keshi, after being snubbed for the first two 2015 Nations cup qualifiers against the Red Devils of Congo DR and South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.

Similarly, Babatunde Michael is feared injured. The Volyn wide man only recently returned from a broken wrist picked up at the World Cup, but limped off injured in their cup game against Dnipro after 23 minutes.

On Friday, while his teammates secured a 2-2 draw at home to Vorskla in the league, he wasn’t listed for the game fuelling speculations that his injury might be worse than initially feared.

So far he has made two appearances this season against Dynamo Kiev and Metalurh Zaporizhya the last of which came on the 22nd of last month.

The 21-year-old Michael was a shock inclusion in Stephen Keshi’s World Cup squad, but he justified his inclusion in the team with a strong game against Bosnia and Argentina.

However, his tournament was cut short after a shot from his teammate, Ogenyi Onazi, fractured his wrist in the Eagles last group game against Argentina.
