Nigerian striker, Obafemi Martins, continued his impressive form in the Major League Soccer (MLS) for Seattle Sounders by scoring twice in their 4-1 win at Colorado Rapids on Sunday.

The Sounders forward netted the first of his two goals in the 28th minute and then got his second with 20 minutes to full time at the Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

Former Fulham man, Clint Dempsey opened scoring in the 11th minute from the spot before Martins slotted in the second for the Seattle club past Rapids goalkeeper, Clinton Irwin after he was played through on goal by Marco Pappa.

Pappa scored the third for Sounders in the 33rd minute before Rapids got one back through Deshorn Brown with two minutes to the break.

With 20 minutes remaining to play for, Martins scored with a right-footed strike from close range to take the score to 4-1 in favour of Sounders.

Five minutes to time, Martins would have had an assist after he centred the ball to Dempsey who saw his effort come off the post.

Martins, 29, has now scored 17 goals for Sounders and also has nine assists to his name in this season's MLS.
