CEOAFRICA.com gathered from South Sudan that President Salva Kiir has named James Wani Igga as the new vice president to occupy the number two vacant position for about one month.

James Igga, a former speaker of the parliament and the commander in the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), succeeded Riek Machar, who was sacked by the president following an apparent power struggle.

Mr. Igga, sources disclosed, came from the large Bari community in South Sudan, and his appointment was observed by analyst as a way of winning the interest of the people from his community.

With 2015 election getting nearer, President Kiir hope to put every necessary things in shape, conscious of the threat pose by Mr. Machar, who said he planned to challenge the president for the leadership role of SPLM so as to run for president in 2015.
