The Kano State Government has directed all public and private schools in the state to reopen on October 13.

The directive is contained in a statement signed by the Deputy Director, Public Relations Department, state Ministry of Education, Hadiza Habib, in Kano on Sunday.

A copy of the statement read in part that: “All schools in the state, both public and private, have been directed to reopen on Sunday and Monday, 12th and 13th Oct. 2014 for boarding and day students, respectively.

“This will mark the beginning of 2014/2015 academic session”, the statement said.

The statement, however, directed only SS-3 students of GGSS Unguwa Uku and GGSS Danzabuwa to resume, while the rest of the students in these schools should await further directive.

The statement explained that the state government had taken all necessary measures for the resumption of the schools.

It then urged parents, teachers and students to cooperate and complement government’s effort towards proving quality education to its citizenry.
