The University of Ibadan (UI) has been ranked as the best in Nigeria, best in West Africa and 6th in Africa, a release by Times Higher Education World Universities Ranking 2022 has said.
The release also revealed that UI was also ranked among the 401- 500 groups in the world.
The Times Higher Education World ranking 2022 includes more than 1600 Universities across 99 countries and territories making them the largest and most diverse university ranking to date.
The rankings were done along the lines of 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators that measure an Institution’s performance across four areas of teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
Speaking on the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, FAS, mni, noted that if the University of Ibadan in spite of its limited financial resources could perform this well, there is no doubt that the University would be ranked higher given the needed infrastructure.
Adebowale congratulated the staff and students on this achievement of the University of Ibadan and called for more cooperation with the management in keeping the flag of the University flying.
