Black Sunday : Gunmen bombed Catholic Church in Ondo, many killed

Many people have been feared dead as gunmen fired and bombed St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, in Owo area of Ondo State, Southwest Nigeria.

The explosion went off during the church’s mass service on Sunday morning.

Unconfirmed sources said the terrorists also sprayed worshippers with bullets, leading to the death of many.

The church which is located at Owa-luwa Street, in Owo Local Government Area of the state was attacked during Sunday morning mass

It was gathered that the gunmen stormed the church on bike and started firing before throwing an explosive devises into the church

Unconfirmed information said Rev Father and some key members of the church were also abducted during the raid.

Recall that gunmen abducted an expatriate after killing his security aide and driver in Owo

Tee-Leo Ikoro, Police Public Relations Officer for Ondo command, confirmed the incident to our reporter in a telephone interview.

“I have been briefed about the incident that happened but we are currently investigating,” he said.
