 The people of Oke- Ogun in Oyo State, Nigeria of the West African continent were excited to receive the new Commissioner of Police, CP A. Kola Sodipo during his familiarization tour to Oyo Area Command.

The Commissioner of police was at the palace of Alaafin of Oyo for his courtesy visit to Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III. The CP also visited the nine (9) divisional headquarters in Oyo Area Command, the Provost of the Federal College of Education (special) Oyo.   Mr Sodipo also visited other traditional rulers within Oyo Area Command.

"Anywhere there is development, there will be increase in crime and all we have to do is to put in our best to curb crime" CP said. However the CP advised members of the public to be security conscious and should continue to collaborate with the police in the fight against crime.

"Crime in your various communities is not out of place, but there is always room for improvement for the police to curb crime” CP said.

According to Alaafin of Oyo Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, Oyo town has been peaceful, all thanks to our police officers, and I wish they will double their effort in ensuring they do what they know how to do best, because without accurate peace, no society will experience  progress. He appreciated the commissioner of police for his visit.

"I found it very worthy and proper that you came, my prayer is that will you have this two basic things in life- long life and good health in wealth" Alaafin said. However the Alaafin said he appreciates the synergy that the Commissioner is trying to build between the police and traditional rulers. "We have our own share of problems in Oyo Alaafin but they are minimal, though am a principled and tough man, but we have been working hand in hand with the policemen" Alaafin said.

The Commissioner advised the sister agencies during his tour to work together as one "it is our collective responsibility, there shouldn't be rivalry, we are working towards achieving the same goal which is security of lives and properties".

According to Dr. Emmanuel Olufemi Adeniyi, the Provost of the Federal College of Education (special) Oyo, it is pleasing to have you here, your officers has never isolated themselves from us, they inform and educate us on security tips, things that will help the growth of the school.

 In another development, Oba Stephen Olufemi Oyeniyi Oparinde II, Akibio of Ilora Land commended the Police officers in his jurisdiction for a job well done and he appealed to them not to relent. "I am a friend to the police because I believe their job should not be influenced by anybody, no matter their status.

The Commissioner of Police advised his men to develop themselves for community policing and make sure they check in their manual regularly to be a professional in their field. “Don’t fight with the sister agencies, when we fight or discriminate, we are giving criminals the opportunity to perpetrate their acts.

The CP commended the Area Commander, the DPOs and all the officers and men of Oyo Area command for a job well done and he advised them to continue their good work that the sky can never be their limit but their starting point.

 Among members of his entourage includes the AC Operations AC Chris Owolabi,  the Police Public Relation Officer, Olabisi Okwuobi Ilobanafor, Mopol squadron  DSP Sule Aminu,    P.A to the CP Hiende Godday amongst others
