A Lagos-based lawyer, Festus Keyamo, Wednesday called on the Inspector-General of Police, Sulaiman Abba to investigate the threat to his life by ex-militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, Alias Tompolo.

Keyamo said he received a call from Tompolo late Tuesday and that the ex-militant told him that he had sent people after him.

In his petition to the IG, he wrote: “My name is Festus Keyamo. I am a Nigerian citizen and a senior member of the legal profession in Nigeria,” he wrote in a petition.

“At exactly 10:13pm on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, I received a telephone call from one Mr. Government Ekpemupolo (alias Tompolo).

“After reaffirming that he is Tompolo when I picked his call, he went straight to the point by informing me that he wishes to inform me that he and his ‘boys’ will kill me by beating me to death or shooting me anywhere they can find me. And that the hunt for me is on.”

It will be recalled that, Keyamo had accused the Governor of Delta state, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan of influencing the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) to replace the legitimate candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Warri south-west local government area with George Ekpemupolo, the younger brother of Tompolo.

George was eventually announced as the winner of the election.

In reaction, Keyamo challenged the governor to set up an election petition tribunal in the interest of justice.
