Senator Gaya Attacked By Gunmen

Four Gunmen reportedly dressed in military uniform, attacked Senator Kabiru Gaya on Friday night while he was travelling to Kano state and snatched his Prado SUV. The senator’s spokesperson, Idris Afegbua in a statement on Friday confirmed the attack.

Idris Afegbua said that his boss was attacked by unknown armed men in military uniform around 7:30 pm along the Jaji-Zaria road when he was travelling to Kano.

Afegbua said Senator Gaya was not hurt but his car, with Registration Number FL 16 SEN, was taken away by the gunmen.

According to Afegbua: The case has been reported to the police who have already taken action”.

Meanwhile Senator Gaya is said to have returned to Kaduna.

62-year-old Senator Gaya a member of the opposition party, All Progressives Congress, APC representing Kano South Senatorial District is the chairman of the Senate Committee on States and Local Government.

Senator Gaya was the Governor of Kano State in January 1992- November 1993.

He was also the Senate’s deputy minority whip between 2007 and 2011, the Chairman, Sob-Committee Senate Committee on Works.
