The Senator representing Rivers South-East Senatorial district, Magnus Abe says no one can influence the removal of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal.

Abe said the Speaker is a strong force in Nigerian democracy.

The Senator said this while addressing scores of APC supporters in Rivers State.

He noted that the Federal Government was ready to go as far as getting the entire members of the House of Representatives to do their bidding, stressing that the attempt would fail.

While berating some Nigerian politicians for violating their oath of office, Senator Abe commended Tambuwal for taking the decision to dump the PDP.

Magnus Abe also accused the Federal government of intending to turn the House of Representatives to what is currently happening in the Rivers State House of Assembly.

He said, “As Tambuwal left the party, they have withdrawn his security.

“The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is very clear; you can become a Speaker of the House of Representatives once you are a member of the House.

“The constitution says members of the House of Representatives can only elect one of their own. The members of the House of Representatives elected Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal as Speaker.

“The only way you can remove him as speaker is that 240 members of the House of Representatives must agree that he should be removed.

“And as I talk to to you today, nobody in Nigeria can get 240 members of the House of Representatives to say that Aminu Tambuwal is not their speaker and I say it again, I underline it; no power in Nigeria can get 240 members to remove Tambuwal.

“So, since they cannot get it by law, they have tried to turn the National Assembly into the Rivers state House of Assembly.

“They want to introduce confusion into the country and Nigerians must get up and reject it”.
