Nigeria: NMA, FMBN Donate Relief Materials To IDPs In Yobe

The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigerian (FMBN) and members of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has donated relief materials to internally displaced persons from two council areas of Yobe state recently captured by Boko Haram insurgents.

The affected council areas from which the displaced persons were drawn and taken refuge in Damaturu, the state capital are Gujba and Gulani, south of the state capital.

Presenting the relief materials to State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) yesterday in Damaturu, the State Comptroller of FMBN, Alhaji Abdu Goni said that the donations was part of the bank's social responsibilities to cushion the devastating effects of insurgency in the state and the North East sub-region of the country.

He called on individuals and corporate organizations such as NMA to assist all the victims of insurgency in kind and health care delivery services.

The NMA chairman, Doctor Abdul Abu, on his part, also said that the association decided to provide anti malaria drugs for the victims.

Executive Secretary of SEMA, Alhaji Musa Idi Jidawa, thanked the bank and the NMA for their gestures to alleviate the sufferings of over 9, 678 displaced persons.
