Oniru sympathize with families of victims of collasped building

The Oniru Chieftaincy Family Estate has commiserated with the families of the victims of the collapsed building at the estate.

Recall that it was reported that some persons were sleeping in the seven-storey building under construction when the building collapsed around 3am on Sunday.

The National Emergency Management Agency has confirmed that so far, six corpses have been recovered from the rubble.

In a statement signed by the Head of the Oniru Chieftaincy Family Estate Office, Prince Olarenwaju Ajasa on Tuesday, sympathised with the victims’ families.

“It is with utmost regret that we, at the Oniru Chieftaincy Family Estate Office, express our deepest sympathy with the families of the yet to be identified victims of the collapsed building on Oba Idowu Abiodun Oniru Road, Oniru Estate, Victoria Island, Lagos.

“This unfortunate incident is one too many, and the attendant loss of lives and valuables is quite avoidable and we pray to God to grant repose to the souls of the deceased and succour to their families.”

 

Prince Ajasa also commended the prompt and diligent emergency rescue services provided by emergency first responders which includes the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, The Nigeria Police, Lagos State Fire Service, Lagos State Emergency Ambulance Services, National Emergency Management Agency, Nigerian Red Cross and on-site paramedics. 

 

The Prince noted that the Oniru Chieftaincy Family Estate Office will continue to partner with Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development and all the relevant statutory agencies, saddled with the onerous duties of physical planning and regulation of building/property development in Lagos State.
