The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari, has conferred the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on Tobi Amusan on Thursday.
Amusan who had recently hit the headlines after winning a Gold Medal in the 100m hurdles at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon, United States of America has set a new world record in the process.
The Ogun State indigene is the first Nigerian athlete to achieve the feat and she also won a gold medal in the same event at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
The athlete who broke the 22-year-old record set by America’s Gail Devers, also defended her Diamond League title successfully last week.
