Pictorial: World Pharmacists' week: PSN attends, felicitate with new FIP Executive

The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), while attending this year’s World Congress in Seville, Spain, has congratulated the newMembers of Executive of International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP).
The 80th World Congress, which started fully yesterday, Sunday, 18th September, and is expected to end on Thursday, 22nd September, 2022, had, on Saturday 17th, seen the election of new officials for the organization; the National President of PSN, Prof. Cyril Usifoh, together with other members of the society, is in attendance.
Mr Paul Sinclair was elected president of the global body of pharmacists; Sinclair’s election is historic, being the first pharmacist from Australia to be elected president in the federation’s 110-year history.


Mr Sinclair, a community pharmacist and former community pharmacy proprietor, has served FIP for a number of years, including as president of its Community Pharmacy Section (2014–18) and chair of FIP’s Board of Pharmaceutical Practice since 2018


Dr Prosper Hiag, President African Pharmaceutical Forum, from Cameroon, Dr Marianne Ivey (USA) and Dr Virginia Olmos (Uruguay) were elected as the Vice presidents of FIP, Dr. Daraph Connolly from Ireland was ratified as the chairman of FIP Board of Pharmaceutical Practice.


However, the National President of PSN, Prof. Cyril Usifoh in his congratulatory message to the executives, pledged partnership between the PSN and the FIP in view of promoting the practice of pharmacy in Nigeria and the world at large.


According to the newly FIP president in his acceptance speech,“we will advocate for the Pharmacy profession in all its forms and further advancing pharmacy worldwide and leaving no one behind. Our smallest member organization will always be an important cog in the wheel that drives FIP forward.”
