The Imo State House of Assembly Speaker, Kennedy Ibe, has announced his resignation as the Speaker of the House.
This was made known on Monday during an emergency plenary session of the Lawmakers at the State house of the Assembly complex.
Ibe said his decision followed a wide consultation with family and political associates.
The Speaker explained that his resignation as the Speaker of the House is in the best interest of the All Progressives Congress (APC), politically in Imo State.
However, Ibe noted that he will continue to support the APC in Imo State, the State government and the Legislature.
Meanwhile, Emeka Nduka representing Ehime Mbano State constituency, has been sworn in as the new Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly.
