At least two persons were killed while eight people sustained injuries in an auto crash at Malam Tanko village on the Abuja-Kaduna Highway.
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corp in Niger State, Kumar Tsukwam, who confirmed the incident on Tuesday, in Minna said that two commercial buses and an articulated vehicle were involved in the accident.
Tsukwam said the commercial vehicles had 34 passengers and two people died, eight were injured, while the twenty-four other passengers escaped unhurt.
He said; “Corpses of the dead were taken to the morgue at Sabon Wuse General Hospital, Niger, where the injured also received treatment.’’
“The vehicles were handed over to the police at Tafa.’’
The FRSC sector commander noted that the cause of the accident was excessive speeding and loss of control.
Tsukwam urged motorists to always exercise caution and adhere strictly to speed limits to avoid crashes.
