The Secretary, Lokoja Local Government Traditional Council, Muhammed Nalado Usam, has confirmed the death of the Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Muhammad Kabir Maikarfi III.
Usam disclosed this in a statement issued late Wednesday.
The Secretary said that the Monarch died on Wednesday evening in a private hospital in Abuja, after a brief illness.
Maikarfi was one of the longest serving traditional rulers in Kogi State, having ascended the throne in 1992.
The Monarch died at the age of 80 and will be buried on Thursday, by 4pm in Lokoja.
