The Executive Director, Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN), Dr Patrick Adebola has explained that any individual who always remembers his past and where he is coming from will never lose focus on where he is going.
This is contained in his anniversary message to Nigeria, as the country marks 62 years of her independence.
Dr Adebola, who congratulated Nigerians, especially the members of the institute, explained that the country has a rich history of agriculture, which enabled it to earn foreign exchange from multiple sources, some decades ago, before the excessive dependence on oil.
The Director, who noted that comparative advantage was used in the farming process, where the North ventured into groundnuts, the West cocoa, while the East concentrated on palm products, with each of them producing other crops, in addition, observed that the pace of development then was higher than it is now.
He called on the youths to get involved, while admonishing the government to continue to make the farming business more attractive to the yoouths.
In his words, “Nigeria is a great country and will always be great. Together, we shall make it greater through agriculture.”
