Two persons lost their lives while four others sustained injuries in an accident at Iyana Egbado, along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway on Saturday, in Ogun State.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed that the fatal crash occurred at about 06:05am.
The FRSC spokesperson in Ogun, Florence Okpe, said two vehicles were involved in the accident: a Nissan Cabster with registration number, KTU142XH; and a Mack truck with the number plate, T-12736LA.
“A total of seven male adults were involved. Four persons were injured, two persons killed and one person was unhurt.”
Okpe said the suspected causes of the crash were excessive speed and road obstruction.
She explained that the truck had a flat tyre and the Nissan vehicle rammed into it.
“The injured victims were taken to State General Hospital, Ifo and the corpses were deposited at the same hospital’s morgue.”
Meanwhile, the FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun, Ahmed Umar, has commiserated with the families of the crash victims, asking them to contact the FRSC office in Itori for more information about the incident.
Umar also advised motorists to avoid indiscriminate parking by the roadside.
The Sector commander reiterated that in case of any breakdown of vehicles, proper placement of road signs should be put to alert other drivers coming.
