Police arrest hoodlums in Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has arrest three persons suspected to be political thugs at Kosodo/Beyerunka area of Ibadan.

Public Relation Officer of the command, Olabisi Ilobanefor, said that a team of Special Anti Robbery Squad swooped on the suspects after a tip-off, adding that they also confessed to be armed robbers who terrorised Ibadan residents.

She said, Abdullahi Mudashiru, Ayobami Adeleke, and Dauda Adekunle were apprehended at a river bank with face masks, one live catridge, cutlasses and items suspected to be charms. During interrogation, they claimed to be a group of armed persons who are available to politicians, land grabbers and anyone who needed their service to deal with opponents.”

Ilobanefor said that the group’s name was Surveillance Squad Militant of Nigeria, with members drawn from Lagos and Ibadan.

“We are making effort to arrest the other members who are at large. We also call on the public to help the police fight crime by volunteering information when they notice strange activities in their areas.”

While addressing journalist over the mayhem in Ibadan on Sunday, the PPRO said that police would continue to look for perpetrators of the dastardly act and that arrest was yet to be made. She also said more than 20 arrests have been made over the killing of a policeman by suspected political thugs on Friday during an All Progressives Congress rally at Oke Ado area of Ibadan
