The Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB), Chairman, Dr Vera Nwadinobi, has urged teachers in the basic education sector to be dedicated and serious minded about their work.
Nwadinobi made the charge on Friday, during a monitoring tour of select-primary schools in Nsugbe, Anambra East Local Government Area.
The Chairman noted that teachers, especially in primary schools had become nonchalant in their attitudes towards work.
She urged them to change their attitude and become more serious and dedicated to their duties for the maximum performance of pupils.
Nwadinobi also reminded the teachers that the State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo is a disciplined teacher, who is passionate about high standards of teachers and teaching.
Nwadinobi, who discovered to her disappointment, that punctuality to school is a major problem for teachers, said; “Henceforth, disciplinary actions will be meted out on any teacher that plays with his/her job, as it will no longer be business as usual because basic education is the foundational level and very delicate, which they should always bear in mind.”
The Chairman further stressed that dedicated teachers are supposed to be in school before the morning assembly which starts at 7.30 am.
