From Zimbabwe, it was gathered that a man, who was charged to court for intending to use the poster of President Robert Mugabe as toilet paper, was discharged and acquitted yesterday.
According to CEOAFRICA.com findings from sources, Takura Mufumisi, 26, was accused of violating electoral rules by destroying a campaign poster. He was arrested at a bar in the southern city of Masvingo and has been detained since then.
However, Mufumisi was discharged because the opposition failed to provide enough evidence to back-up their case. His lawyer, Shumba Phillip, described the suit against his client as an infringement on freedom of expression.
It would be recalled that President Mugabe, 89, won a seven term in office after beating his rival, Morgan Tsvangirai, in elections on 31 July.
People expressed their reservations against what they described as infringement on human right to freedom of expression by Mugabe-led government, as similar case was recorded in March when a senior member of Mr Tsvangirai's Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) party, Solomon Madzore, was arrested after being accused of calling Mr Mugabe a "limping donkey" at an election rally.
