The Cross River State Police command on Saturday, started a manhunt for gunmen that killed Sergeant Peter Ikwen.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Irene Ugbo,who confirmed the incident said; “The Commissioner of Police has ordered a manhunt for the assailants who escaped with his rifle after killing him.”
Sergeant Ikwen was said to be attached to Atakpa Police Division and deployed to guard the palace of the Obong of Calabar.
It was reported that Ikwen had stepped out of the palace to ease himself at Egerton street when the gunmen accosted him, shot and killed him after which they escaped with his gun.
