Three oil workers were on Saturday morning allegedly abducted by an armed group suspected to be members of the separatist militants, affiliated to the Biafra Nations League (BnL) in Cross River.
It was reported that the boat and other safety equipment belonging to an oil firm operating in the Atabong area in the Bakassi Peninsula, were also seized.
According to sources, who spoke with newsmen, the oil workers were on their way to work at about 9am when they were abducted.
The armed group shot sporadically to scare off security operatives before they sped away with the abducted workers.
The security operatives guiding two vessels were taken off guard but no casualties were reported.
The Public Relations Officer of Cross River State Police Command, Irene Ugbo, has not confirmed the incident.
