Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano has endorsed his current deputy, Abdullahi Ganduje, to succeed him in 2015.
The decision was taken early Friday at the Africa House of the Government House after a lengthy meeting involving senior members of the All Progressive Congress, APC.
The members agreed that Mr. Ganduje will succeed his boss as governor, while Kabiru Gaya, contesting for the same seat, will contest for the senate again.
The decision led to jubilation in the camp of Mr. Ganduje.
Similarly, a former deputy governor of the state, Abdullahi Gwarzo, was given the go-ahead to contest the South Senatorial district seat.
Also, an aspirant at the 2007 gubernatorial election was endorsed for House of Representatives.
Jafaru Isa, a loyalist of former head of state, and APC presidential aspirant Muhammadu Buhari, was cleared to contest the Kano Central Senatorial District, while Abdurrahman Sumaila, a governorship aspirant, was not cleared for either his gubernatorial or the House of Representative ambition.
