The Osun State House of Assembly has expressed disappointment over the poor quality of the job executed on the Ilesa water project.
The Assembly has summoned the consultant, the contractor and the Ministry of Water Resources to appear before the lawmakers.
This was contained in a statement by the Press Secretary to the Assembly Speaker, Kunle Alabi, on Thursday, in Osogbo.
Alabi said the Speaker, Timothy Owoeye warned those summoned against disregarding the invite,
Owoeye noted that the Assembly will not fail to order their arrest, should any of the affected persons fail to comply with the summons.
The Speaker said the Ilesa water project had gulped so much money, with little work to show for the amount spent.
Owoeye said the State Ministry of Water Resources, the contractor and the consultant of the project should appear before the Assembly on November 29, to explain issues surrounding the execution of the project.
The statement further read; “We are not happy with what is going on with the Ilesa water project. All those involved, especially the Ministry of Water Resources, the consultant, the contractor and the sub-contractor, they should all appear before the Assembly on Tuesday 29th of this month.’’
“Our findings revealed that the contractor in charge of the water project had collected a lot of money without doing much. They must be brought to book because tax-payers money is involved.’’
“They will need to come and explain to the public what is delaying the completion of the project when much had been provided and given to the contractor in charge.”
