CEOAFRICA.com gathered from Abuja that the Supreme Court has upheld the election of  Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, and dismissed the appeal of Rotimi Akeredolu (ACN) and Olusola Oke of PDP.

The October 20, 2012 governorship election in Ondo State saw the emergence of the incumbent, Olusegun Mimiko of Labour Party as the winner.

According to sources, the court had earlier struck out the name of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) from the case due to the fact that the party no longer exists.

It would be recalled that Action Congress of Nigeria, recently merged with Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and a faction of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) to form the new All Progressive Congress (APC).

The evidence which both challengers of the October 2012 Governorship election presented was that the voters register used for the poll was loaded with illegal names which was confirmed by the Appeal Court, but ruled on the ground that the evidence was not substantial enough to nullify the poll.

However, this verdict of the Appeal Court was upheld by Supreme Court and the case completely struck out.
