Primaries conducted by the All Progressives Congress turned bloody, yesterday, as groups within the party engaged one another in a free for all.

As early as 8a.m yesterday morning when accreditation commenced, two patrol vans of armed policemen were stationed outside the gates of Ikosi LCDA venue of the primaries

Consequently, business activities were paralyzed in the local government secretariat.

About 9am, sporadic gun shots were heard as another detachment of police men moved to                                          reinforce the police team on ground. An eyewitness said a man soaked in his own blood was seen being taken away. It was not immediately known what led to the fracas. As a result, residents scampered to safety while all businesses along the ever busy Ikosi road were closed.

Apparently, to ease tension, the election was deferred till 4pm when it was finally conducted under the watchful eyes of armed security men. It will be recalled that a similar incident was recorded at Kosofe local government where the APC held its primaries on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command, said there no was casualty in the fight that broke out at the Ikosi local government secretariat, Lagos.

Rather it explained that during the exercise a group of boys stormed the secretariat and started hauling dangerous objects such as stones and broken bottles at participants, apparently to disrupt the exercise. But the group’s excess according to spokesman for the command, Kenneth Nwosu was immediately contained by policemen drafted to the secretariat.
