Floods Claims 24 Lives, Renders Thousands Homeless In Mali

CEOAFRICA.com gathered from Mali that the capital city of Bamako experienced its worst floods disaster yesterday following torrential rain.

It was further gathered from sources that not less than 24 people lost their lives in the incident, a witness said some minibus filled with passengers was swept away by the flood.Others died when their mud houses collapsed.

Meanwhile, most of the collapsed houses, according to findings, were illegal structures constructed on lands reserved by the government for drainage.

Bamako which was built on the bank of River Niger regularly experience flood during the raining season, but this particular one was described as the worst of all in several years.
