Vice Chancellor of Chrisland University, Prof. Peace Babalola has reiterated the need to put public interest above private interest in the coming general elections.
She made this remark during her induction into the membership of the highest body of administration, Chartered Institute Administration.
The event which took place on Tuesday, 21st February, 2023 at Chrisland University campus was an epic event.
In his key note address, the President of the Council of the Chartered Institute Administration, Adm (Dr) Festus Oshoba attributed the spate of corruption in all facets of the country to the poor administrative system which does not allow for accountability.
“If the nation must come out of its present wood of corruption, then the service of seasoned administrators must be involved. We must learn to put round pegs in round holes to perfect our system of governance; and this of course will boost productivity and nation building.”
While extolling the body of the Chartered Institute Administration as a reputable in excellent administration, the President harps on the roles the season administrative personnel plays in any organisation that would grow.
This he said is the super structure which the organisation runs on.
He revealed that recruitment of members into the institute is basically informed by austere administrative prowess which he said is very conspicuous in the management style of Chrisland University; hence, the induction of the principal staff.
He said vital characteristics of member are sensitive, hardworking, sociable, problem solver, among other virtues.
Reacting to the award, Prof. Peace Babalola expressed her gratitude for the recognition and honour which she described as worthy.
She emphasized the need for organisations and government agencies to include the services of qualified administrators for the day to day running for effective and steady growth.
This includes in the recruitment of staff, training of staff, evaluation and promotion of staff, etc.
She assured that Chrisland University will not only imbibe more of the tenets of the institute to boost productivity, but also assimilate it into the teaching of students to produce not only academia, but also seasoned administrator.
The Prof of Pharmacology called on governmental agencies to involve more qualified administrators who are groomed to put public interest above private interest.
The VC harped on this factor especially as we prepare for the general elections which she said must be managed by credible people who will put the nation first above all sentiment to get a credible result.
The high point of the event was the taking of oaths of professional membership of the institute which bestowed the appellate - FCIA, and the decorations of the newly inducted staff of the University.
