A Labour Party (LP) chieftain, Dr. Oghogho Okundaye, has urged the people of Edo State not to lose sight but still have the confidence in a better tomorrow as the nation marches on democratically.
Dr. Okundaye, in a statement to felicitate with Nigerians to mark Democracy Day, said the lessons of June 12 has taught everybody that irrespective of religion and tribe, Nigerians have the democratic tendency in them and that if given the right atmosphere, can confidently elect a leader of their choice, especially in Edo State come 2024.
He noted that the way the people embraced the Obidient Movement in the last election in Nigeria was a testimony that they actually yearn for good governance.
The nationalist urged Nigerians not to be discouraged on what transpired but remain focused and steadfast as all hands must be on deck to help correct the ills in the electoral process.
Dr Okundaye, a Labour Party stalwart and an advocate of the Obedient movement, also used the opportunity to wish Edo State indigenes well as they mark this year’s Democracy Day, assuring them that the pains of yesteryears will soon be surmounted.
He enjoined Edo people, irrespective of their senatorial district, to remain calm, peaceful and be law-abiding in carrying out their legitimate duties without having any fear in their democratic belief.
The former youth leader also maintained that the dream of the Edo state they agitated for many years ago would come to full actualization in no distant time, especially, as the state prepares for another governorship election next year.
