From Lisbon, the capital city of Portugal, CEOAFRICA.com gathered that the highest court of law in the country has ruled out a plant by the government to make sacking public workers easier.

The court said the plan is unconstitutional and contravened state job safety guarantees. The position was initiated so as to reduce government spending. The government has promised creditors a big reduction in its budget deficit. Other austerity measures have already been rejected by the same court.

It was gathered from sources that the Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho-led government wanted to cut 30,000 public jobs from available 500,000 so as to save 4.7bn euros before the end of 2013. This would help to gather funds in paying some debts owe by the country.
