When he announced his decision to join politics earlier in the year, not many people took Desmond Olusola Elliot serious. In fact, many started taunting him that he added ‘Olusola’, a Yoruba name, to his name to let people know that he was of Yoruba descent since his two names were English names. But he believed in himself and his political destiny.

And last week, he realised his dream. He won the primaries of the APC to contest for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly. And if his luck continues into the election proper, by 2015 Mr. Desmond Elliot would have become Hon. Elliot. The transition from earning a living as a thespian to a lawmaker would have been completed.
