Two female students who were accused of killing a popular hotelier, Adeniyi Ojo after engaging in a threesome have been remanded in a correctional facility by a Kwara State Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin.

Ojo, the Managing Director of Water View Hotel and son of Chief Emmanuel Ojo, a prominent figure in the state, was found dead under suspicious circumstances on September 29, 2023.

The suspects; Joy Adanma Joseph, 22, and her friend, Favour David Oreoluwa,23, were arrested on October 6, in Mowe Ibafo, Ogun State.

The duo was docked before Magistrate Monisola Kamson for culpable homicide and armed robbery.

According to the Police First Information Report, the suspects paid the socialite a visit and they went into the hotel room together.

The ladies dashed out of the facility without the MD’s knowledge, pretending that they wanted to get bullet drinks from the garden across the hotel.

The hotel receptionist, Abdulsalam Tawakalitu who was suspicious of them, went to check the MD in the room and discovered the door was locked up on the MD.

"After several unanswered knocks, the door was forcefully opened and the lifeless body of the manager was found on the bed with his hands, legs tied and his mouth gagged with a rag”, the Police report said.

"The two suspects reportedly went with the deceased mobile phone, removed the SIM card, inserted it in theirs and started making several attempts to transfer money from the MD bank account but failed because the account kept on demanding for OTP (One Time Passport)

Investigations further revealed that Joy who was armed with knives, codeine syrup, and refnol drug meant for sleep induction, gagged the deceased mouth. While the deceased hands and legs were tied, Adanma held his manhood, threatening to cut it off if he failed to cooperate.

"Oreoluwa was reportedly saddled with the task to unlock his phone through his face and afterwards, she placed the pillow over his face, impressed it on him until he passed out,” the report further said.

The report added that Adanma confessed to having stabbed the deceased with the knife while Oreoluwa was saddled with the task of getting the phone unlocked through the deceased face unlock mode.

The Prosecutor, Sanni Abdullah, informed the court that the matter was not ordinarily bailable considering the nature of the case and the lives involved.

The Presiding Chief Magistrate, Monisola Kamson ordered that the two accused persons be remanded in the facility of the Federal Correctional Service and adjourned the case till 29th of November, 2023 for further hearing.
