The President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr Akinwunmi Adeshina, will on December 8, 2023, deliver the convocation lecture at the second Veritas University Digital Innovations Exhibition and 12th convocation lecture of the Veritas University, Abuja.
Akinwunmi, who is Nigeria’s former Minister of Agriculture in the President Goodluck Jonathan administration between 2015 and 2019, will be speaking on the theme: ‘Africa, It’s Your Time’.
A statement issued by the Head of Corporate Affairs and Communication of the university, Ben Agande, said the convocation would witness the conferment of honorary degrees on three distinguished Nigerians-the President of the African Development Bank, Adeshina; Chief Anthony Idigbe (SAN), and Most Reverend Fortunatus Nwachukwu.
According to the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor (Rev Fr) Hyacinth Ichoku, a total of 519 students will be awarded first degrees while 68 persons will be awarded Master’s degree and five Ph.Ds.
Out of the number of undergraduates that will be presented for the convocation, 34 graduated with First Class; 236 with Second Class Upper Division; 219 with second Class Lower Division, while 31 graduated with Third Class.
The Department of Computer Science has the highest number of graduates at 115, while Marketing Department has the least number of graduates at three.
