Tinubu arrives Maiduguri for army officer’s confab

President Bola Tinubu on Monday arrived Maiduguri, Borno State capital to attend the opening of the three-day Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Conference.

The president was received by Borno governor Babagana Zulum, the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru and the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja at the Nigerian Air Force base at about 12 noon.

He immediately paid a visit to the foremost traditional ruler in tte state, Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Garbai El-Kanemi before proceeding to the venue of the conference near the headquarters of Nigerian Army 7 Division and Theatre Command, Joint Task Force Northeast Operation Hadin Kai.

He arrived the venue to lick start the conference thereafter.

Principal Staff Officers at the army headquarters, army corp commanders, field operation/theatre commanders, General Officers Commanding (GOCs) and heads of major army formations in the country are attending the conference.

Also present are some former Chiefs of Army Staff including Lt Gen Alani Akinrinade (1979-1980), Lt Gen Ishaya Bamayi (1996-1999), Lt Gen Azubuike Ihejirika (2010-2014), immediate past COAS, Lt Gen Faruk Yahay and Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen Lucky Irabor, among others.

The conference came a week after error bombing of civilians popukation at remote Tudun Biri village in northwest Kaduna State. No fewer than 86 persons died in the incident.
