PHOTOS: Chrisland University organizes fun-filled Christmas Carol

Chrisland University, Abeokuta, held its annual Carol lessons and thanksgiving on Wednesday, 20th December 2023.

Th carol which was held at the school premises, was themed "Rejoice Oh Favored One."

The program, which commenced at 4:30 pm, was filled with joy and inspiration as the glorious Chrisland University choir kicked off the event with their captivating songs, setting the mood right for adoration.

The event was anchored by Dolapo Akintoye and Samuel Akinnusi, who warmly welcomed the presence of esteemed dignitaries that graced the occasion.

Among the notable attendees were Rt. Rev. Prof. Andrew Olu Igenoza, Dr. Mrs. Akinhanmi, CEO of Dimmo Stores, and the Vice Chancellor of Chrisland University, who was ably represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Olatunde Faronbi and distinguished Parents.

Members of the governing council also joined the program via the internet, including the Chancellor, High Chief Dr. Mrs. Winifred Awosika, Pro Chancellor, Professor Ayodeji Elugbaju, Vice Chancellor, Professor Chinedum Peace Babalola, Professor Falaye, and Professor Bamgbose.

The program commenced with a reverent opening prayer led by the university chaplain, Rev'd. Juwon Onasanya. This was followed by a beautiful rendition of the university anthem, symbolizing pride and unity.

The Vice Chancellor's welcome address was delivered by Professor Olatunde Farombi, who read the lyrics of a hymn cherished by the VC.

In his goodwill message, he emphasized the significance of Jesus bringing light into our darkness and comfort into our troubles, urging everyone to enjoy the carol and carry the light of Jesus within them.

The Carol featured a variety of exciting activities, including classic and top-notch presentation of carol songs, spoken words, Markson Vocals, drama performances, special appearances, the Hallelujah Chorus, and Carol hymns.

Rt. Rev. Prof. Andrew Olu Igenoza delivered a powerful sermon on the theme "Rejoice Oh Favored One," drawing inspiration from Luke 1:26-38.

He shared his personal testimony of encountering Christ two years after being baptized and confirmed as an Anglican, highlighting the significance of carol songs in his spiritual journey. He also emphasized the difference between being born again and being religious, leading those ready to receive Christ into a prayer of salvation.

Adding color to the event was the presence of popular gospel singer Mofe Praise, whose performance had everyone dancing and praising God for the season. The vote of thanks was given by Ven. Prof. Femi Onabajo, bringing the carol program to a close.

Speaking with CEOAFRICA, Rt. Rev. Prof. Andrew expressed his delight in celebrating Christ with young people. He encouraged everyone to reflect on their ways and strive to do things to the glory of God, using the opportunity to pray for the nation and its leaders.

Professor Olatunde Faronbi, the DVC, also expressed gratitude to God for the successful conclusion of the program. He urged everyone to embrace and reflect the life of Christ in their actions and shared a goodwill message of love and peace for the festive season.

Mr. Samuel Omotosho, the University Registrar, and Rev'd. Juwon Onasanya, the University Chaplain, both emphasized the importance of not forgetting the reason for the season, which is Jesus Christ. Dolapo Akintoye, the University Public Relations Officer, expressed her appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of the year and wished them a prosperous new year.

Oluwaloye Dairo, the Student Chaplain, and Adele Olamiposi Temitope, the Student Choir Master, expressed their gratitude to their colleagues for their support and sent a heartfelt message of love and peace as they celebrated Christmas and welcomed the New Year.
